Located in between Auburn and Birmingham, deep in the Alabama woods, exists a motorsport heaven. MidPond, a raceway and sports complex, is home to a variety of motorsports activities. Most of these are drifting and autocross. MidPond is a 12 turn track with a pond in the middle, making a great opportunity for pictures. Ken, the owner and manager, is very laid back and super easy going. The clubhouse is fitted with a ton of chairs and couches, making spectating very nice. They even have a grill and sell food, but with COVID this was not an option they were currently offering. Of the tracks I have been to, MidPond feels like a true grassroots drifting location and I hope it can stay that way.

Their first event of the year was a drift day the last weekend of January. I was able to attend for a full day and took loads of pictures. It was still pretty cold out and the drivers list was only about 15 people, but I still had a great time at MidPond. I have always wanted to cross it off my list of tracks I have visited and finally was able to. This event, and most others, are hotlapping for the entire day, allowing as much seat time as possible during the day. For more information, visit midpond.com
