iTrack Motorsports is a group of drifters in central Georgia that really symbolize what a grassroots drifting club should be about. I had the opportunity to attend and shoot for iTrack’s second grassroots competition. They call it Excite Grand Prix: Style Exhibition, or ExciteGP for short. They have 4 different classes of cars that start the weekend by a continuous stream of hot laps. They work off of a points system, where there is a running total all season long to determine a winner. This is great for the spectators because there is never a break in the action. For hours, judges watch and discuss the qualifying runs to construct a Top 16 bracket, in which they will compete for a place on the podium. Once the Top 16 drivers were chosen, a dinner break was taken for the drivers and judges. Once the racing started back up, the drivers ran tandem and got judged on their lead and chase runs. Whoever made a better run gets to advance onto the next round. The night was filled with drifting and for a spectator fee of only $15, it was such an action-packed event.
