iTrack Motorsports is a group of drifters in central Georgia that really symbolize what a grassroots drifting club should be about. I had the opportunity to attend and shoot for iTrack’s first grassroots competition. They call it Excite Grand Prix: Style Exhibition, or ExciteGP for short. They have 4 different classes of cars that start the weekend by a continuous stream of hot laps. This is great for the spectators because there is never a break in the action. For hours, judges watch and discuss to construct a Top 16 bracket, in which they will compete for a place on the podium. Upon my entrance, I was greeted and treated very nicely. Walking around the pit area, people were smiling and excited to be surrounded in tire smoke and burnt rubber. Once the Top 16 drivers were chosen, a dinner break was taken for the drivers and judges. Once the racing started back up, the drivers ran tandem and got judged on their lead and chase runs. Whoever made a better run gets to advance onto the next round. The night was filled with drifting and for a spectator fee of only $15, it was such an action-packed event. For more information on iTrack or their ExciteGP series please visit www.itrackms.com.
