Located about 45 minutes away from Florida’s most popular panhandle beaches, Emerald Coast Dragway in Holt came alive this past weekend. They hosted the Klutch Kickers 100k Drift Series. This consists of 5 different rounds of grassroots drifting competition that spans the summer months. Each event pays out $20,000 to the top 5 drivers, with the first place prize being $10,000. Naturally, a prize of this nature attracts some of the most popular names this side of the country, from Nate Hamilton and Chelsea DeNofa to AdamLZ. Emerald Coast had an excellent selection of vendors at this event and tons of room for families to set up canopies track-side, making this an excellent event to attend. Also, the pits were open to spectators and allowed for up close experience of maintenance and preparation for the event. This event lasted two days. The first day consisted of practice, qualifying, and the Top 64 battles. The second day started with practice, then switched over to finish the competition.

All of the drivers drove great with only minimal hiccups here and there, At the end of the event, Taylor Hull in his Comp Cams ATS-V took the cake and the $10,000 first place prize when he won his battle with Chelsea. Chelsea was piloting a borrowed 2JZ-swapped BMW from the DriftHQ team. It was amazing to see DeNofa at this event and watch various levels of skill race against the Formula Drift driver. Jonathan Nerren came in third with his S14. Nerren is also a FD driver, but he drives for Shelby American in the Pro1 class. Fourth and fifth go to Alex Schlagel and Taylor Ray, respectively. Alex is also a part of the DriftHQ team and Taylor drove his LS Miata. In all, it was an amazing event and would recommend to anyone. Two full days packed with fun. Also, this event is unique in that it is not done on a skid pad, but an actual track set up FOR drifting. This track was designed and made for this event by the people at Klutch Kickers, and did a darn good job doing it. For more information visit klutchkickers.com.
